Watch a Gulf Coast Sunset From Your Own Private Double Decker in Anna Maria Island!
Sea Rocket’s private sunset cruise puts your group on a two-story double decker pontoon with panoramic views in every direction and a captain whose entire job is to get you to the perfect spot at the perfect moment. As the sky shifts from blue to gold to deep orange over the Gulf of Mexico, you will be out on the open water watching it happen with nothing between you and the horizon.
The cruise runs approximately 90 minutes through the scenic Intracoastal Waterway and out toward the Gulf, passing luxury waterfront estates, historic landmarks, and the stretches of pristine coastline that make Anna Maria Island one of the most photographed places in Florida. Your captain navigates and shares local knowledge along the way, timing the route so your boat reaches the best vantage point just as the sun begins its descent. The Sunshine Skyway Bridge, silhouetted against a sky full of color, is one of those views that people describe for years after they see it.
Sunset is also one of the most active times of day for wildlife on the Gulf Coast. Bottlenose dolphins feed actively in the shallows during golden hour and frequently approach the boat, riding wakes and surfacing close enough to watch in real detail. Coastal birds, including great blue herons, white ibis, pelicans, and egrets, begin their return to roost as the light fades, adding movement and color to the shoreline. During the cooler months from November through March, manatee sightings become more frequent in the sheltered waterways as the water temperature drops.
This is a fully private charter, which means the boat belongs entirely to your group for the evening. Connect your playlist to the Bluetooth surround sound system, pour your favorite drinks, and settle in for one of the most beautiful 90 minutes the Gulf Coast has to offer. Whether you are celebrating an anniversary, planning a bachelorette evening on the water, marking a birthday, or simply making the most of a Florida vacation, this is the sunset experience that delivers every time. Book your private cruise today!

No two evenings on the Gulf Coast look exactly the same, and your captain will adapt the route to the conditions of the night. Here is how a typical Sea Rocket sunset cruise unfolds!
Arrival and Check-In at Blenker Boatworks & Marina
- Head to Blenker Boatworks & Marina at 2504 88th Street Court NW, Bradenton. Free parking is available right on site. If you completed your waiver in advance (we send it via email and text before your trip), boarding goes quickly. Get your cooler set up, meet your captain, and listen to a brief safety overview before you cast off. The evening is about to begin!
Setting Out Through the Intracoastal Waterway
- As the boat moves away from the marina, your captain begins navigating through the calm Intracoastal Waterway toward the best viewing waters. The afternoon light is already shifting. Waterfront estates and mangrove shorelines pass on either side as the boat heads toward the Gulf. Pour your first drink, find your spot on the deck, and let your playlist set the mood.
Golden Hour on the Gulf
- As the sun approaches the horizon, your captain positions the boat for the best possible view. The sky begins its transformation, warm gold giving way to deep orange and pink above the Gulf of Mexico. This is the moment the whole trip builds toward. Capture it, raise a glass to it, or simply sit and watch as the day comes to an end of the Gulf Coast.
The Sunshine Skyway and Wildlife
- Your captain works the Sunshine Skyway Bridge into the route, giving your group a chance to photograph it silhouetted against the colorful sky. Keep your eyes on the water too: dolphins are frequently active at this hour, feeding in the shallows and surfacing alongside the boat. Pelicans make their final passes, herons glide toward their roosts, and the whole Anna Maria Island coastline settles into the quiet beauty of early evening.
The Blue Hour and Return Cruise
- After the sun sets, the sky moves into the blue hour, soft twilight tones that reflect off the calm water and create an entirely different kind of beauty. Your captain can point out waterfront dining spots on Bridge Street or share recommendations for where to take the evening next. The cruise back through the Intracoastal is peaceful and unhurried, arriving at Blenker Boatworks just as the stars begin to appear.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
Yes! Sea Rocket’s sunset cruises are fully BYOB. Pack a cooler with whatever your group enjoys most, whether that is wine, champagne, beer, cocktails, or non-alcoholic drinks. Light snacks, cheese boards, and appetizers are all welcome too. The one rule is no glass containers onboard for safety, so bring cans, plastic bottles, or portable drinkware. Coolers with ice are provided on the boat.
-
The Gulf of Mexico sunset is the main event, but there is plenty to see along the way. Your captain navigates past Anna Maria Island’s beautiful coastline, luxury waterfront properties, and historic landmarks before positioning the boat for unobstructed panoramic views of the sun setting over the Gulf. Bottlenose dolphins are frequently active at this time of day and coastal birds are also very visible as they settle in for the evening. During cooler months (November through March), manatee and sea turtle sightings are an added bonus.
-
Dress comfortably and casually. Sundresses, shorts, and relaxed resort wear are all perfect. Bring a light jacket or layer for after the sun goes down, as temperatures on the water can drop noticeably in the evening, especially during the cooler months. Pack your camera or phone for what will likely be your best photos of the trip. And bring your cooler loaded with whatever your group wants to enjoy during the cruise!
-
Florida weather is famously variable, and your captain cannot control the clouds. What your captain can do is navigate to the best possible position on the water based on conditions that evening, and even partially cloudy Gulf Coast sunsets tend to be spectacular as the light scatters through the cloud cover. In the event of severe weather like high winds or rain, Sea Rocket will reschedule or apply trip protection according to the cancellation policy.
-
Yes! All ages are welcome on the Sea Rocket Anna Maria Island sunset cruise. The shaded lower deck is a comfortable spot for guests who prefer to stay out of the wind, while the upper deck delivers the full panoramic experience. Life jackets are provided onboard and required for young children and non-swimmers.

All bookings are final unless weather and trip protection is purchased at checkout. For reservations made 10 or more days in advance, trip protection is included automatically at no extra charge.
