Private Boat Tours in Bradenton Beach: Your Guide to Chartering on Anna Maria Island

The waters around Bradenton Beach and Anna Maria Island are some of the most rewarding in Florida to explore by boat. Bottlenose dolphin pods play in the Manatee River corridor daily, the Intracoastal Waterway winds past luxury estates and mangrove shorelines, Egmont Key sits quietly at the mouth of Tampa Bay with no roads and no crowds, and the Gulf of Mexico delivers sunsets that people talk about for years. The easiest way to take it all in is on a private charter with your own captain, your own group, and your own agenda.
Sea Rocket has been running Anna Maria parasailing adventures for years, and we are now offering the same local knowledge and hospitality on a fully private double decker pontoon. Four trip options cover just about every reason you might want to be on the water in Bradenton Beach, from a quick family dolphin trip to a full day at a Gulf Coast sandbar. Here is what each one looks like and how to choose.

The Boat: A Two-Story Private Pontoon Built for Groups of 12
Every private charter runs on our two-story pontoon built for groups of up to 12. The open upper sundeck gives you panoramic views and unobstructed photos in every direction. The shaded lower deck is where you retreat when you want a break from the sun, a comfortable seat, and a cold drink. A water slide off the top deck turns every sandbar stop into the highlight of the day, and a Bluetooth surround sound system lets your group control the playlist from the moment you leave the marina.
All charters are BYOB, which means you bring exactly what your group likes to eat and drink. Coolers with ice are provided onboard, so packing is simple. The only rule is no glass for safety reasons. Every trip includes a USCG-licensed local captain who knows these waters in detail, from the best sandbar conditions on any given day to the dolphin hotspots and the waterfront restaurants worth stopping at.

Option 1: Private Double Decker Day Charter (4, 6, or 8 Hours)
Best for: Bachelorette weekends, milestone birthdays, girls trips, spring break, anyone who wants a full day on the water.
The day charter is the flagship experience. You choose your length, load your coolers, and head out with your captain to whichever combination of stops suits the group. A typical day includes sandbar time with the slide running and inflatables over the side, dolphin sightings along the Manatee River corridor, and stretches of Gulf cruising with Anna Maria Island’s white sand beaches in view.
On four-hour and longer charters, Egmont Key becomes an option. Your captain can also work in a stop at one of the waterfront restaurants along the Intracoastal, which are accessible by boat. Tie up, grab lunch and a cold drink, and get back out when your group is ready.
The 4-hour charter is the most popular length for groups that want a proper Gulf Coast day without committing to a full afternoon. The 6-hour is the sweet spot when Egmont Key or a lunch stop is on the list. The 8-hour is the one to book when you want to squeeze every possible moment out of a Florida vacation day

Option 2: Private Sunset Cruise (2 Hours)
Best for: Anniversaries, romantic evenings, small celebrations, anyone who wants a beautiful two hours of golden hour on their trip.
The sunset cruise is timed entirely around golden hour. Your captain plans the route to put your boat in the best possible position as the sun drops toward the Gulf of Mexico, with the Sunshine Skyway Bridge silhouetted against the color. The cruise runs about 90 minutes on the water, with the remaining time handled at the dock for boarding and departure.
Sunset is also one of the most active times of day for wildlife on the Gulf Coast. Bottlenose dolphins feed in the shallows during golden hour and regularly approach the boat. Pelicans, herons, and white ibis return to roost along the shoreline, and during the cooler months from November through March, manatee sightings become more frequent in the sheltered waterways.
Pack champagne, wine, beer, or whatever your group loves, connect your playlist, and watch the Gulf Coast do its thing.

Option 3: Private Dolphin and Intracoastal Tour (75 Minutes)
Best for: Families with young kids, travelers short on time, grandparents visiting with grandkids, anyone who wants a focused wildlife experience without a half-day commitment.
The 75-minute dolphin tour is the most convenient charter we offer. Your captain works the grass flats and intracoastal waterways where dolphins feed and play, with stops and slower passes built around wildlife activity. At low tide, wading birds line the exposed flats. In the warmer months, manatees graze in the shallows, and occasional sightings of rays and sea turtles round out the experience.
This is a real eco-tour with local marine ecology commentary from your captain, not a scripted loop.It is a private experience, so the pace is set by your group. If the kids want to sit at the bow watching for dorsal fins the whole time, the captain runs with that. If someone wants to ask a hundred questions about the local ecosystem, that works too!
Option 4: Private Egmont Key Excursion (3 Hours)
Best for: Curious travelers, history buffs, snorkelers, families who want a destination trip instead of a cruise.
Egmont Key is a Florida state park sitting at the mouth of Tampa Bay, reachable only by boat. The island has no roads, no shops, and no fresh water, which is exactly why it feels the way it does once you step onto the sand. The beaches are empty, the water is clear enough to snorkel with no gear beyond a mask, and gopher tortoises roam freely across the interior.
The 3-hour excursion includes a 25-minute boat ride each way and roughly two hours on the island. The 1858 lighthouse, still maintained by the U.S. Coast Guard, is worth the short walk from the landing beach. The ruins of Fort Dade, a Spanish-American War era coastal defense installation, are scattered throughout the island and partially submerged offshore, which makes for the most interesting snorkeling spot in the area.
There are no facilities on Egmont Key, so packing matters. Bring plenty of water, food, reef-safe sunscreen, towels, and any snorkel gear you want to use. Your captain will run through the essentials at check-in so nothing gets forgotten.
